The Association of Service Civil International (SCI) is one of the world's largest international voluntary service organisations dedicated to promoting a culture of peace and fostering participation through the organisation and coordination of voluntary projects all over the world.
SCI’s vision is a world of peace, social justice and sustainable development, where all people live together with mutual respect and without recourse to any form of violence to solve conflict. SCI’s mission is to promote a culture of peace by organising international volunteering projects with local and global impact. SCI is open to all individuals who share its values, without regard to gender, colour, religion, nationality, social status or political views, or any other possible grounds for discrimination.
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about peace, climate justice, antimilitarism, storytelling, solidarity, volunteering, and intercultural dialogue.
- Eager to support SCI’s mission and learn NGO project management, reporting, communication, and administration.
- Interested in non-formal education.
- Skilled in social media and basic Excel; willing to learn WordPress.
- Fluent in English (spoken & written).
- Creative, proactive, organised, and detail-oriented.
- A team player, adaptable, and able to multitask in a busy international office.
Prior SCI experience is a plus.
The project volunteer will support SCI's peace mission by contributing to various ongoing and future international projects, supporting logistics, communication, reporting and, if interested, project applications. The focus will be on the themes of inclusion, nonviolence, climate justice and/or antimilitarism.
Future projects will include tasks related to international activities, storytelling, and developing educational resources. They will also support the office with other projects and tasks that will arise during the placement, for example our impact assessment process and statistics.
The placement requires creativity, a keen interest in the topics of the projects, organisation, flexibility and the ability (or interest in developing as a skill) to multitask.
The volunteer will carry out their activities for a total of 30 hours a week and will receive 1.5 free days per month during the voluntary service. While the city is Dutch-speaking, the work is entirely in English.
They will be given a furnished room in an apartment with shared facilities (livingroom, kitchen, bathroom) with other volunteers; and will receive a bike sharing card to explore the beautiful city of Antwerp.
They will be able to participate in international activities (meetings and/or trainings) and in a summer camp.
